Renusol Wins Solar Industry Award 2015

PV mounting systems manufacturer Renusol has received the Solar Industry Award 2015 in the PV Balance of System category.
The company was presented with the industry prize in honour of its innovative RS1 universal clamp at a ceremony in Hamburg earlier this month. Renusol has succeeded in developing the world’s first clamp for mounting photovoltaic modules that can be used as either a mid or end clamp thanks to its rotatable head. Since only one clamp is needed instead of two, planning, ordering materials and mounting are all made noticeably easier for installers. What’s more, the clamp can be used at all standard panel heights. The RS1 was also shortlisted for this year’s Intersolar Award.
“The accolade confirms our philosophy of making the work of tradespeople on roofs as easy as possible. When using the RS1 module clamp, installers always have the correct number of clamps on the roof and no longer have to plan precisely how many end and mid clamps are needed to mount the modules,” explains Marko Balen, Head of Product Management at Renusol. “The RS1 clamp is height adjustable and suitable for all standard solar modules, meaning it really is a case of one clamp fits all. Although it was particularly challenging to develop, our efforts have paid off, as by enabling users to work with just one module clamp, we save them both significant time and money. Taking into account the entire logistics chain, the overall cost savings are remarkable.”
In order to switch between the mid and end clamping functions, installers simply have to turn the clamp head 90 degrees by hand. The RS1 clamp is clicked into place on the mounting rail and can be very easily moved along the rail until it is in the correct position. Moreover, installers can fit the clamp using one hand, allowing them to work safely even on steep roofs.
2015 marks the sixth consecutive year in which the Solar Industry Awards have been presented. From the approximately 500 solar companies that applied for the award this year, a judging panel comprising representatives of the entire PV value chain initially selected around 50 for the shortlist. More than 70,000 members of the solar industry then voted online for the winners of the 13 categories. The award is organised annually by the PV management magazine Solar International.
“As the solar industry moves to the next stage, the challenge of meeting the demands of the industry is bigger than ever. In an industry that demands more efficiency, innovation remains at the heart of all we do. The Solar Industry Awards have been created to recognise the global PV and solar industry’s whole value chain and those people, products and services that will develop innovative manufacturing and product approaches that have the potential to change the way we live,” says Jackie Cannon, Director of Solar Publishing for Solar International and organiser of the Solar Industry Awards.
Renusol has specialised in sophisticated solutions for the installation of photovoltaic systems for over 17 years. Headquartered in Cologne, Germany, and a subsidiary of RBI Solar, the company develops modular systems for installing solar arrays in ground-mounted systems and on roofs of any kind. Its systems and services are available in all key European markets and in the USA.
