Farm Power's 308KW Solar Scheme Comes Online

Renewable power station operator, Farm Power, is celebrating as its substantial 308kWp ground-mounted solar PV system powers up for the first time, taking just 100 days to complete.
Farm Power schemeFarm Power commissioned the project to create one of the largest renewable solar photovoltaic (solar PV) power stations in Dorset - connecting to the grid just 100 days after planning permission was granted by Purbeck District Council.
Located at Slepe Farm near Poole, the bespoke design and build project has been managed by national energy efficiency solutions company Anesco.
An array of 1,100 Dimplex polycrystalline photovoltaic modules solar panels have been used in the scheme, which can generate over 300 kilowatts of electricity - the equivalent to the electricity consumed by over 100 average UK households.
The project will now provide a sanctuary of biodiversity for the next 25 years at Slepe Farm, which is itself a well-established organic operation.
The development has been unanimously supported by the council at Lytchett Minster and Upton.
Farm Power managing director, Mark Simon, said: “There is much talk about the need for the UK to build renewable electricity generation. Farm Power is acting quickly to implement solar and other renewable generation capacity in otherwise redundant sites, close to users, where the electricity can be efficiently and non-disruptively generated.
“At Slepe Farm, we have had outstanding partners in our tirelessly supportive landlord, Mr Selby Bennett; our calm and efficient contractor, Anesco, and the local network operator, Scottish & Southern Energy. Thanks to them, Farm Power has delivered this project in record time, to budget and while managing all the complex risks associated with renewables. We are very proud that the commissioning of our anchor site at Slepe Farm has been such a success.”
Adrian Pike, CEO of Anesco, said: “We’re delighted the scheme at Slepe Farm has now come online. This was a large and important project for us, and really cements our position as one of the leading installers of large scale solar PV projects in the UK.”
Farm Power is a renewable power generation company which owns and operates a distributed network of small-scale solar and micro-hydro power stations at farms, schools and other public and private sector sites under long-term leases. The result is a reliable source of low cost renewable electricity which will reduce the carbon footprint of the site owner and the nation.
Mr Simon added: “Farm Power has money in the bank, pays generous indexed-link rents and is ready to act as an open and long-term partner with landlords who want to make suitable sites available for renewable power generation. We provide all the finance, project and risk management, design, installation, operation and maintenance of a project over its lifetime.”
