Make Sure Your Solar Roof Installation Kits Are Compliant

The British Board of Agrément (BBA) would like to draw solar manufacturers' and installers' attention to the publication of MCS 012 Product Certification Scheme Requirements: Pitched Roof Installation.
This sets out requirements for installation kits to be used with the panels, including weathertightness, wind uplift resistance and reaction to fire.
It is expected that MCS012 approved installation kits will be required for all MCS installations from 16th September 2013 in order to qualify for the Feed-in-Tariffs . The next issues of the Solar PV and Solar Thermal MCS Installation Standards (MIS 3002 and MIS 3001) will be updated to include references to MCS012 to reflect this.
The BBA is already carrying out wind uplift resistance and weathertightness tests on systems using its purpose built test rig and looks forward to issuing its first MCS012 Certificate shortly.
