AZUR Solar wins the prestigious Plus X Award!

Together with its independent electricity system AZUR INDEPENDA, solar manufacturer AZUR Solar from Southern Germany was awarded the Plus X Award for “Best Product of the Year 2012” and “Most Innovative Brand of the Year 2012”.

Furthermore, the intelligent independent electricity system additionally won in four out of seven categories: ecology, functionality, innovation and ease of use.

The prestigious international Plus X Award recognises innovative technological, sports and lifestyle products. Now in its ninth year, the televised Plus X Award ceremony took place in Cologne on 10th May. Hundreds of top decision-makers from 26 different industries joined numerous celebrities from the worlds of politics, media and society to honour the 25 most innovative brands of the year and six specialty trade brands of the year, among them international brands like AEG, BlackBerry, Opel and HUF Haus.

“It was an honour to be named and recognised alongside many esteemed companies in this prestigious international annual award for our efforts and contribution. We will continue our programme of innovation on the field of alternative energies,” stated Christian Bouda, the MD at Slough based AZUR Solar, a leading manufacturer, distributor and installer of solar PV solutions.

AZUR INDEPENDA is the next key technology developed by AZUR Solar. The intelligent independent electricity system with high-performance battery capacities makes home owners nearly independent from conventional energy sources and rising electricity rates. In addition to feeding the public grid with self-produced energy when usage is low, the AZUR batteries can store the produced power for later use at night or when the sun is not shining, thus minimising the need to buy ‘expensive’ energy from power suppliers. AZUR INDEPENDA is already sold successfully in Germany and will be available for the UK late 2012/early 2013.

AZUR Solar has delivered tens of thousands of its highly reliable and efficient solar power generation systems to customers worldwide, through its subsidiaries across Europe, in the USA, the Middle East and Asia. Recent prestigious AZUR Solar projects have included the UK’s largest self-funded rooftop installation for The Body Shop International in West Sussex; a massive distribution centre for Staples in Northamptonshire; an initial six branches for Covers Builders Merchants in the South East; plus projects with SEGRO / Slough Estates. Note on Plus X Award
The Plus X Award is the world’s largest competition for technological, sport and lifestyle products and is judged by a jury comprising more than 130 members from 32 countries and a variety of industries.
Mercedes-Benz received this year’s Plus X Award for Sustainability. And the emotional climax of the evening was when Noel Lee, founder and owner of Monster Cable Products Inc received only the third Plus X Lifetime Achievement Award ever to be presented. The two previous recipients being Sir James Dyson, inventor of the Dyson vacuum cleaner and Dr Amar G Bose, founder of Bose Corporation.

Awards are given for new and innovative technologies, extraordinary design and intelligent, easy to use operating systems. Criteria such as outstanding ergonomic and ecological characteristics, along with the use of quality materials and workmanship, are additional factors that contribute to sustainable products with long lasting value. The Plus X Award is only conferred upon products judged to possess at least one “Plus X” factor.
