Eaton’s Bussmann business, the leader in critical circuit protection, power management and electrical safety, is enhancing its line up of NH square bodied photovoltaic IEC 60269-6 (gPV) approved (PV) fuse links to include new higher ratings up to 400A at 1000Vdc.
These are among the smallest NH style fuse links to achieve this rating, and represent a significant breakthrough in fuse link design and performance.
Designed specifically to protect and isolate PV array combiners boxes, recombiners boxes and inverters, these compact fuse links are capable of interrupting low overcurrents associated with faulted PV systems – reverse current, multi-array faults – and meet the IEC 60269-6 (gPV) and UL standard requirements (CCC pending), allowing the selection of one fuse link that meets global acceptance.
Available in NH size 1,2 and 3 formats, the range offers increased efficiencies with very low power loss. The compact size and bladed mounting options permit easy design and installation without increasing the footprint. Integrated dual indication comes as standard and, for remote signaling, micro switches can be easily linked with system monitoring schemes, simplifying fault finding and reducing downtime.
Ben Rooke, senior product manager, comments: “The use of higher voltages, particularly up to 1000Vdc, is becoming the global norm. This in turn puts pressure on PV system OEMs to source and install overcurrent protection solutions that are capable of meeting their requirements and are able to be easily packaged. By achieving ratings up to 400A, the entire NH Series of Solar PV fuse links can deliver on both counts with protection performance and packaging.”
With the NH Series of PV fuse links now rated up to 400A, Bussmann is providing an unrivalled choice of protection for PV system manufacturers, while increasing the scope for higher power systems to be protected.
