Doncaster-based Sandtoft has earned recognition for its PV48 solar roofing system which is the first of its kind to integrate with all types of tiles or slates and has been designed with the roofer in mind.
The company, which also has factories in Broomfleet, Goxhill and Heckmondwike, has been shortlisted in the Product Innovation category at the 2012 Retrofit Awards run by Architects’ Journal magazine. The annual awards celebrate design, engineering and construction excellence that prolong the active life of buildings and infrastructure.
Since its launch, the PV48 has been used by major housebuilders, local authorities and social housing providers across the country. Up against tough competition, it has made the shortlist as its design enables it to be used quickly, safely and effectively on existing roofs. Importantly, it can also be installed by roofers using a process that they are already familiar with.
Andrew Lawton, Sandtoft’s sales director said: “When we developed the PV48 solar roofing system our aim was to fill a gap in the market with a solution that benefited contractors, architects and developers. Making the shortlist at the Retrofit Awards underlines the success of the PV48 to date and our ability to innovate in a highly competitive market. We now look forward to the final results announcement later this year.”
The winners will be announced on 12th September 2012 at an awards ceremony in London.
